Rio 2016: Malaysian sailors race against the wind

National sailor Khairulnizam Mohd Afendy retired in the seventh race but returned in the next to finish 37th in the men's Laser Standard event at the Rio Olympic Games here, Friday.
After eight races, Khairulnizam has lodged himself in 37 out of 46 sailors with total 269 penalty points while Singaporean Colin Cheng emerged as the best Asian in 21st position with 173 penalty points.
The last two races will be held tomorrow.
In the 2012 London Olympics, Khairulnizam finished 47 out of 49 sailors.
Meanwhile, Malaysia's first woman sailor in Olympics, Nur Shazrin Mohd Latif is still learning the ropes to be among the best in the world when she finished 33 out of 37 sailors in the Laser Radial event.
Nur Shazrin clinched the 32nd position in race seven and improved to 27 in the following race to accumulate a total of 249 penalty points while Anne-Marie Rindom from Denmark leads the race with 68 penalty points.
