Malaysia's first Paralympic gold medallist, Mohamad Ridzuan Mohamad Puzi ended the long jump T36 (cerebral palsy) event in fourth position at the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro today.
Although it was the best effort by Mohamad Ridzuan - who took the gold medal in the men's T36 100m yesterday - at 5.36 metres in his fourth attempt broke the world record, it was not enough for a podium finish.
His best jump at the Olympic Stadium also did not improve his Asian Para Games record of 5.42m set at the Asian Para Games in Incheon, South Korea in 2014.
The gold medal was won by Brayden Davidson of Australia with a distance of 5.62m and the silver went to the host country's Rodrigo Parreira da Silva who also turned in the same distance.
Both of them created new Paralympic records which improved the earlier record of 5.23m set by Roman Pavlyk in the 2012 London Paralympics.
Meanwhile this time, Pavlyk had to be satisfied with a bronze medal in the current Games with a distance of 5.61m.
