Negeri Sembilan and National striker S. Kunalan is almost certain to join Selangor next season.
The 26-year-old striker from Semenyih, Selangor said his decision to join Selangor after six years with Negeri Sembilan was too seek new challenges.
"My contract with Negeri Sembilan expires at the end of the year and I have already informed the Negeri Sembilan FA of my intention and they respect my decision," Kunalan who first joined the Negeri Sembilan President's Cup squad in 2006 before gaining promotion to the Super League side, told Bernama.
A number of local dailies had reported that Kunalan and a number of other Negeri Sembilan players including skipper Shukor Adan were expected to join other teams.
Kunalan, a nippy striker who combines speed and silky skills to overcome his opponents, is expected to sign for Selangor soon.
During his six years with Negeri Sembilan, Kunalan was in the Malaysia Cup winning squads in 2009 and 2011 and the FA Cup winning team in 2010.
Kunalan who was among 35 players called up by National head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal to prepare for the AFF Suzuki Cup title defence was confident that Malaysia would retain the cup won in 2010 after beating Indonesia.
Rajagobal is expected to announce his list of 22 players for three friendly matches against Vietnam at the My Dinh Stadium on Nov 3, Thailand in Chiang Mai (Nov 7) and Hong Kong at the Shah Alam Stadium on Nov 14.
Malaysia will kick off the AFF Suzuki Cup campaign against Singapore on Nov 25, followed by Laos on Nov 27 before facing Indonesia on Dec 1.
All three AFF Suzuki Cup group matches will be played at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
