Malaysia's most successful bodybuilder Sazali Abd Samad won his tenth Mr Universe title at the World Bodybuilding and Fitness Physique (WBFP) Championships in Mumbai, India, from Dec 5-10.
Sazali, who won the world title in six consecutive years, said it was not easy for him to maintain excellent performance as the other bodybuilders gave stiff competition.
"Winning the Mr Universe title for the tenth time is not easy. I have done my best, winning or losing is part of competition. I was aiming for this win since early this year.
"It is all because of my hard work and sacrifices. I have been active in bodybuilding for 27 years and can be proud of my achievements," he told reporters upon arrival at KL International Airport (KLIA) here, today.
The tenth Mr Universe title was all the more sweeter because Sazali had to grapple with injury in the knee and shoulder.
Commenting on competition in the 75kg class, the police officer said he received stiff competition from bodybuilders from India and Iran.
"The bodybuilders from Iran and India were very good. In terms of the judging, I think the jury has been fair," he added.
Asked whether he would turn professional, Sazali said he was satisfied being an amateur bodybuilder and wanted to give more commitment to his family.
Another proud Malaysian was Lilian Tan who won the Miss Universe title for the second time in Mumbai.
Tan first won the Miss Universe title in Bangkok two years ago.
She plans to vie for her third Miss Universe title in Brazali in 2016.
