Malaysia's preparation as host for the Kuala Lumpur SEA Games from Aug 19 to 31 in various aspects are on the right track.
Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) president, Tan Sri Tunku Imran Tuanku Ja'afar said he was confident all the planning would go on as scheduled and would ensure all the milestones are met.
He said in terms of preparations, several areas were doing well and some could be a little bit behind schedule but believed they would be completed according to schedule.
"We are on track but it does not mean that we have to take the foot off the pedal. We still have to work very hard to complete everything on time.
"You know, the preparation in any sporting event is always like this, you get slowed down but still have the opportunity to accelerate toward the finishing line," he said after chairing the OCM council meeting here, today.
Meanwhile, at the meeting, vice president of Malaysian Fencing Federation(MFF) Rusni Abu Hassan was announced as the recipient of OCM Women and Sport Awards 2016.
Rusni holds various important portfolios such as vice president of Fencing Confederation of Asia (FCA) and president of Southeast Asia Fencing Federation (SEAFF).
Apart from that, Tunku Imran advised all the volunteers in the KL SEA Games to not expect anything in return.
"Volunteers do not necessarily expect any compensation for their services. However, the discussions are still ongoing within MASOC (Malaysia SEA Games Organising Committee).
"It's all about the satisfaction of being part of the organizing team that has delivered the successful games. Maybe later they will get rewards, we don't know," he said.
