Selangor, the most celebrated team in the country after having won the Malaysia Cup 32 times, produced a vintage performance to beat Pahang 2-0 and set up a Malaysia Cup final date against Kedah.

Selangor who had held Pahang 0-0 in their first leg semifinal encounter at the Darulmakmur Stadium in Pahang, won 2-0 at the Shah Alam Stadium Sunday while Kedah beat Felda United 2-1 at the Darul Aman Stadium in Alor Setar to advance on a 4-3 aggregate score after both teams were tied 2-2 in the first leg.

The Malaysia Cup final has been scheduled at the Shah Alam Stadium on Dec 12.

Selangor, playing in front of about 50,000 fans struck as early as the 10th minute through its Brazilian import Guilherme De Paula before Muhammad Nazmi Faiz Mansor struck a beauty in the 53rd minute from outside the box to seal a memorable win.

In Alor Setar, another Brazilian, Sandro Da Silva put Kedah in the final with the winning goal in the 50th minute with a well taken free kick after Nigerian Chidi Edeh had equalised in the 43rd minute.

Felda United had silenced the 30,000 odd fans at the Darul Aman Stadium when Ahmad Syamim Yahya struck in the 38th minute to put the visitors one up.

Any hopes of a fightback by Felda United evaporated when Indra Putra Mahayuddin was given the marching orders by referee Muhamad Zamzaidi Katimin in the 60th minute for a second yellow card offence.

Before the match started, both teams and everyone at the stadium observed a minute of silence as a mark of respect for the death of the Raja Muda of Kedah Tunku Abdul Malik Almarhum Sultan Badlishah and Tunku Laksamana Johor Tunku Abdul Jalil.

Tunku Abdul Malik, 86, passed away on Nov 29 due to old age while Tunku Abdul Jalil, 25, passed away Saturday after a long battle with cancer.
