Former Perlis Menteri Besar and Perlis FA President Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim has decided to quit from the Football Association of Malaysia's (FAM) sub-committees.
Shahidan who received a show cause letter from FAM today said he would not reply the letter but has decided to quit from the finance and women's football committees.
"I also intend to give up the Perlis FA president's post but for the time being I have to look for funds to pay the salary of the players. I will make a decision (to quit as Perlis FA president) soon," he said here today.
Shahidan said FAM should not have taken any action against him simply because he had voiced out what was decided in the Perlis FA meeting (urging FAM to assist poor teams like Perlis).
"It was not my individual opinion or call, it was the Perlis FA's request," he said adding that all the relevant authorities must be concerned with bribery in football because it is a serious issue that can tarnish the image of the country.
"We toil to find money to pay the salary of players but they are ungrateful and fix matches for money. Perlis FA has also been affected by such action," he said.
