Sports Ministry unsure of MWF money issue

Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said his ministry has not received any reports on the alleged misappropriation of funds in the Malaysian Weightlifting Federation (MWF).

Ahmad Shabery said he would leave it to the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate the allegations.

"Although I have not received any reports, I will still monitor the development because if the MACC had started investigations, there must be some elements in it," he told reporters after opening the Anak Perantau Futsal Carnival here today.

There have been reports that a number of coaches and weightlifters were called up by the MACC following allegations that officials in the federation were involved in corrupt practices.
