World junior champion, Ng Eain Yow moved to the final qualifying round of the 2016 Men's World Squash Championship in Egypt, late Tuesday (early Wednesday Malaysia time).
Ng, who is making a debut in the world senior event, pulled off a pleasant surprise by defeating top seed in the qualifying round, Charles Sharpes of England, with 5-11, 11-4, 5-11, 12-10 and 11-5 in the match lasting 53 minutes, held at Wadi Degla Club.
On his suprise victory, Ng said it was not an easy match as his opponent was playing at a very fast pace in the first set.
"So, I told myself to just try and slow the pace down, and get the ball to the back to be able to play my own game, instead of his," he was quoted as saying (website;www.wadideglaworldsquashchamps.com).
