Stonor aiming sixth Aussie GP win before retirement
Casey Stoner has just two MotoGP races left before he retires at the end of the season.
The current MotoGP champion can't defend his title, but will be aiming for his sixth Australian GP win in a row in this Sunday (28th October).
Turn three at the 4.445-kilometre (2.76-mile) circuit was renamed 'Stoner Corner' on Thursday (25th October) in homage to the Australian's career.
He joins other Australian world champions Wayne Gardner and Mick Doohan in having sections of the Victorian state coastal track named after them.
Stoner said he was trying to treat this Sunday's race like every other "it's been built up to be a very big weekend, you know I'm still going to attack it exactly as I have done always and, you know, in a lot of ways it's no different to me than every other weekend except that, you know, I do really enjoy this track".
Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo leads the MotoGP standings by 23 points, ahead of Spanish compatriot Dani Pedrosa.
Lorenzo called on his team to stay focussed "there is only two races to the end, so more than ever we must be really concentrated, really focussed for not making any mistakes".
