Syaidatul Afifah loses in Bowling World Cup semi-final

National elite kegler, Syaidatul Afifah Badrul Hamidi failed in her bid to become first Malaysian woman to win the Bowling World Cup title after losing in the semi-final held at Hao's Bowling Centre in Shanghai, China today.
The 25-year-old kegler lost 237 against 248 pinfalls to Danielle McEwan of the United States in the stepladder semi-final match which involves 10 frames, according to tournament website www.qubicaamf.com/qubicaamf-bowling-world-cup.
Sweden's Jenny Wegner won the women's title by defeating Danielle; 231-204 in the stepladder finals.
She moved to the finals after defeating Singapore's Bernice Lim; 227-204 in another semi-final match.
In the men's division, Wang Hongbo of China won the title by edging Christopher Sloan of Ireland; 225 against 180 pinfalls.
Malaysia's representative in the men's division, Muhammad Rafiq Ismail failed to make the stepladder semi-finals after finishing in ninth place among 24 keglers in round 5.
Only the top eight out of 24 keglers advance in the play-off match to decide the top four keglers to the semi-finals.
National men's kegler, Syafiq Ridhwan Abdul Malek was the only Malaysian to win the 2012 World Cup in Poland. -- Bernama
