Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah is new FAM president

NEW PRESIDENT: Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah is new FAM president
Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah has been elected as the new president of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).
He reportedly garnered 27 votes defeating Tengku Mahkota Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim who garnered 12 votes in the two-cornered fight.
In the first round, Tengku Abdullah received 24 votes while Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim received 15 votes.
However, a second round of voting was held because the first round did not achieve a two-third majority according to Article 39.2 in the FAM contest for president.
Before this, FAM President Sultan Ahmad Shah announced his withdrawal from contesting the top post.
Sultan Ahmad Shah was elected FAM president since 1984.
