Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah wants Harimau Malaysia to beat Timor Leste in the 2019 Asian Cup play-off qualifier tomorrow.
"I have been waiting for the national team to bounce back for a long time.
A win over Timor Leste will improve our world ranking.
"Let the coach and players prove their worth on the field," he said after signing a Memorandum Understanding (MOU) for the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy, here today.
Tengku Abdullah is president of the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF).
Malaysia's last win was the 1-0 win over Timor Leste on Oct 13, 2015 in the 2018 World Cup qualifier.
It was followed by the 6-0 loss to Palestine on Nov 12, a 2-1 loss to United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Nov 17 and a 2-0 loss to Saudi Arabia on March 25.
Malaysia scored only three goals and let in 30 goals in eight matches, including the 10-0 humiliation by UAE.
Harimau Malaysia proved 'toothless' by drawing 0-0 in two friendly matches, against Macau in Melaka on March 29, and against Myanmar in Yangon on May 28.
