Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman has decided not to contest the post of Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) deputy president.
The menteri besar, who is also Terengganu Football Association president, said the decision was to allow him to focus on both the state's administration and football in the state.
"I've turned down the nomination and will not contest. I want to focus on the state government and the Terengganu football team. That's even better ...InsyaAllah (God willing), I will see how it goes in the future.
"I hope whoever is elected (for the post) will carry out the task to the best of his ability because Malaysians have high hopes for football. So, the new leadership is hoped to bring back the glory of our national squad," he said.
Ahmad Razif was speaking to reporters after visiting the beach area of Kampung Kolam in Mengambang Telipot here Monday.
Speaking of erosion along the beach recently, he said the situation was now still under control and various measures had been taken by the Works Department and the Drainage and Irrigation Department.
Among the works that had been carried out included rock revetments along the 200 metres of the beach front to prevent erosion from further damaging the roads nearby, said Ahmad Razif. -- Bernama
