Former Singapore international V. Sundramoorthy has been given the responsibility to take charge of the Lions XII team for the second consecutive year.
The coach who led his young Lions to a runner-up spot in M-League's Super League competition last season, promised that his side will put up an even better performance this time around.
"The Lions XII squad has been working together as a team and we have remained unbeaten in our pre-season preparations which serves as an excellent opportunity for us to build on for the 2013 season.
"We are ready for the M-League and we will put up a consistent and good display for our fans from the first game," he said.
Lions XII FC will kick off their Super League campaign in away match against the newly promoted, Armed Forces at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi, Negeri Sembilan on Wednesday (Jan 9).
Meanwhile, the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) and its principal sponsor, StarHub today unveiled the Lions XII FC squad which will compete in the 2013 M-League, namely Super League, Malaysian Cup and FA Cup competitions at their home ground in Jalan Besar Stadium, while Nike showcased their new outfit.
The new 29-man squad comprising a mix of youth and experience, looks set to better last season's campaign whereby they finished runner-up in the Super League, besides marching into the semi-final of the Malaysian Cup.
Among the new faces in the team are Fazrul Nawaz, Iqbal Hussain and Hafiz Sujad and they are expected to inject new blood to support players like Hariss Harun, Irwan Shah and Safuwan Baharudin, as quoted in the teams' website; www.lionsxii.sg.
FAS President Zainudin Nordin in his address thanked the Lions XII supporters for their unwavering support towards the team and also FAS.
