Support will still be given to Malaysia's number one badminton player Datuk Lee Chong Wei regardless of his achievements in the court.
"He is our top player and there is no doubt we will still be supporting him all the way," said Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
However, he added developing new talents for the future should not be placed on hindsight as Malaysia could not be too reliant on Chong Wei.
"There are a number of talents under our radar and we hope they can raise their game in due time," said Khairy after official unveiling of the National Sports' Day corporate partners at the Youth and Sports Ministry Building in Putrajaya.
He mentioned Zulfadli Zulkiffli as among the talents that has enourmous potential to grow into a great player in the future.
"The focus is for him to raise his game first but as for now, Chong Wei presents our greatest hope to deliver an Olympic Gold medal," said Khairy.
He was asked to comment on Chong Wei's performances in the final match of the World Badminton Championships 2015 against China shuttler Chen Long.
Meanwhile, on the National Sports' Day scheduled on October 10 this year, Khairy hoped to attract more than three million people to the event.
"We want Malaysia to be a sporting nation rather than a sports-loving nation.
"In order to achieve that, we need some time to cultivate this culture," added Khairy.
