Winter Olympics: National alpine skier Aruwin qualifies for Run 2

KUALA LUMPUR: National alpine skier, Aruwin Salehhuddin managed to make the cut for Run 2 of the women's giant slalom event of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics today.
Aruwin, who is making her debut in the prestigious Games, will have a chance to challenge for a medal in the Run 2, as she finished in 46th place out of 60 skiers.
The 17-year-old who created history as the first Malaysian women athlete to compete in the Winter Olympics, clocked one minute and 06.13 seconds (s) in the event held at the National Alpine Ski Centre which is located in the Xiaohaituo Mountain Area in northwest Yanqing.
Sara Hector emerged as the fastest skier in Run 1 after the Swede recorded 57.56s.
Run 2 will be held later today at 2.30pm.
Apart from women's giant slalom event, the United States-based athlete will also be competing in the slalom event on Wednesday (Feb 9).
Another national alpine skier, Jeffrey Webb, who made an appearance at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics (in South Korea) is scheduled to compete in the men's slalom event on Feb 16.
