The Football Association of Selangor (FAS) has terminated the contract of Selangor head coach Zainal Abidin Hassan with immediate effect following the team's poor showing in the Super League.
Selangor team manager Amirudin Shari said in a statement, the drastic decision was made following the instruction of Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali who wants a revamp of the football team.
"The duties of the head coach are taken over by assistant head coach K.Gunalan until the FAS finds a suitable candidate to lead Selangor in the remaining Super League and Malaysia Cup matches."
Amiruddin said the FAS will announce the other changes tomorrow.
Mohamed Azmin had blamed Amirudin and his assistant, Nor Hisham Ghouth for the Selangor's poor performance and ordered a revamp to arrest the decline.
Selangor's 0-1 defeat to Kedah in a Super League match at Darul Aman Stadium, Alor Setar, yesterday angered the supporters who demanded a revamp.
