CHINA said on Friday (October 9) that it opposed hacking and the politically motivated spread of misinformation, after US authorities said they had moved to disrupt online infrastructure allegedly used by hackers linked to Chinese IT firm Integrity Technology Group.
The US Justice Department said it had seized seven internet domains that were allegedly used to scan and compromise US and foreign critical infrastructure systems. The move was the second public US action against Integrity Tech's alleged hacking network after authorities disrupted a botnet in September 2024.
Asked about the US action at a regular news briefing in Beijing, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said China consistently opposed and cracked down on hacking activities in accordance with the law.
"China also firmly opposes the dissemination of false information and the creation of noise for political purposes," Mao said.
She said cybersecurity was a shared concern for China and the United States, and urged Washington to abandon "double standards and political manipulation."
