China's first AI home robot experience center opened on Sunday in Qingdao, east China's Shandong Province. This facility showcased a multi-scenario home robot ecosystem, integrating end-to-end services for exoskeleton robots alongside household chore, cooking, and companion robots.
Covering daily scenarios such as mobility, home living, dining, and companionship, it transforms the concept of "unmanned housework" into a tangible, real-life experience.
At the store, the exoskeleton robot designed for mobility took center stage. The flagship W3 model features a proprietary AFI wearable system and is constructed from carbon fiber and titanium alloy. Despite housing dual motors, the unit weighs only 1.75 kg.
By combining multi-source sensor fusion with AI-driven gait prediction algorithms, it interprets the user's walking intentions within milliseconds, providing adaptive assistance across all scenarios. Its high-degree-of-freedom biomimetic joint structure replicates the natural movement trajectories of human hips, knees, and ankles, enabling seamless transitions between walking, squatting, and using the toilet.
Other home-life scenarios were also showcased throughout the store. The Haiwa household robot can identify colors and materials, autonomously retrieve laundry from the machine, and complete the entire wash-and-dry cycle.
An embodied cleaning robot handles floor tidying and switches tools based on the type of stain for effective cleaning. Meanwhile, companion robots offer features like mobile monitoring and fall detection alerts, catering to the needs of both the elderly and children.
Additionally, an AI cooking robot was on display. It offers users a hands-free, seamless cooking experience. The product is set to debut at the World Robot Conference (WRC) in Beijing on Wednesday.
The opening of this first-of-its-kind AI home robot experience center signifies far more than just the launch of a new retail store. For a long time, home robots were primarily marketed online, leaving users without the opportunity for hands-on, in-person interaction and making it difficult to form a clear understanding of the products; the opening of this experience center allows users to gain an intuitive sense of what future smart living looks like.
