Japan's Crown Prince Naruhito left today after a five-day official visit to Malaysia.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor hosted an official luncheon today in honour of Japan's Crown Prince Naruhito's official visit at Seri Perdana here.

He said the friendly and cooperative ties between both nations had been steadfast for the past 60 years, with Tokyo and Kuala Lumpur having established diplomatic relations on Aug 31, 1957.

The Permata Negara Programme Patron said Prince Naruhito conveyed this desire for cooperation to her when he visited the PERMATApintar Centre at UKM here today.

The special aircraft, Flight JAF0001, ferrying the Crown Prince landed at the KL International Airport at 5.35pm.

"This historic visit will contribute towards the enhancement of the close and fraternal relations between the two countries, as well as personal relationship between leaders," it said.

According to a Japanese Embassy official here, the visit is at the invitation of the Malaysian Government.
