The Pujut state seat has been vacant since February when its incumbent, Dr Ting Tiong Choon of DAP was disqualified for having dual nationality, namely Australian and Malaysian citizenship.

The Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) will file a notice of appeal against the Kuching High Court's ruling that the disqualification of Dr Ting Tiong Choon as Pujut assembyman.
