The cash grant of RM10 million for Cendana under the National Economic Recovery Plan (PENJANA) last year, has been approved to assist people in the creative industry.

The creative industry contributed 1.9 per cent or RM29.4 billion to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2019 according to a report by the Department of Statistics Malaysia.

Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz today visited the Mah Meri Cultural Village to deliver food assistance for arts and culture workers from the Mah Meri community.

A total of RM941.38 million has been channelled under the Frontliners Allowance as of July 30, said Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.

A total of 575 creative industry players yesterday received funds under the CENDANA recovery initiative amounting to RM10 million.

Funding is up to RM10,000 per person and applications are now open until April 2.
