The Selangor state government will carry out the degazettement of Bukit Cherakah Forest Reserve to avoid the risk of legal action by companies with interests in the property.

Only 42 hectares (104 acres) out of the total 536.6 hectares (1,326 acres) of the Kuala Langat North Forest Reserve (HSKLU) will remain degazetted, said Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari.

Prior to 2016, there were fires which affected HSKLU, almost all of which started in adjacent areas.
