The remaining 17 Malaysians stranded in Jammu and Kashmir, India was transported out of the affected area on the 13 September 2014 at 6.30am by the Indian Army to the Governor’s residence.

From thereon, they were airlifted to Srinagar airport and then on to New Delhi by commercial flight.

They reached New Delhi last night at 10pm and was assisted by the officials from the High Commission.

Malaysia Airlines has confirmed that the 16 passengers will be departing New Delhi tonight local time and to arrive the Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Sepang at 6.55am on Sept 15. The 17th member of the group will be flying out by Malindo Air.

A total of 59 Malaysians were stranded in the Himalayan region, which is currently going through the worst flood in the last 60 years. It has so far claimed more than 250 lives.

The Malaysian Government wishes to express its deepest condolences to the Indian Government for the loss of its citizens in what was declared by the Indian Government as a national disaster.
