RIYADH: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim met with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati in Riyadh on Monday, ahead of the Extraordinary Summit of Arab and Islamic Nations.
The meeting comes as Lebanon continues to suffer from the ongoing Israeli assault, which has claimed over 2,700 lives and left thousands more injured. During the discussions, Anwar reiterated Malaysia’s unwavering support for Lebanon, emphasising the country’s condemnation of the Israeli aggression.
Anwar also highlighted that Malaysia, too, has felt the direct impact of this conflict, citing the recent injuries of six members of the Malaysian Battalion (MALBATT), part of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), following an Israeli attack.
Both leaders are scheduled to attend the Extraordinary Summit, where Anwar is expected to deliver Malaysia’s mandate, condemning Israeli actions against Palestine and Lebanon.
