A car bomb exploded in Sungai Golok town early today, injuring two members of the public who were near the location of the incident, according to police in Thailand's restive southern province.
Sungai Golok police chief, Col. Korn-art Suwannakam said the car was believed to be carrying 50kg of bomb which exploded at about 6.10am local time (7.10am Malaysian time) near the police camp, market and some houses.
"The closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera recording shows the riders on three motorcycles picking up passengers from the car the moment it was parked at the spot before the bomb exploded three minutes later," he said, here.
Korn-art said police were studying the CCTV recording to ascertain the identity of the men on the motorcycles and the car passengers to facilitate the investigation.
Both the injured victims in the car bomb explosion, a 40-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, are being treatment at Ratchanakarin Hospital, here.
