COVID-19: 257 new cases in Singapore, majority still at dorms

Singapore has confirmed an additional 257 cases of COVID-19 infection in the last 24 hours, with only four cases in the community.
With the latest infection figure, the tally now stands at 41,473 cases.
In brief noon data released here today, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said among the community cases, one was a Singaporean permanent resident and three others were work pass holders.
Meanwhile, the vast majority of the infections still involved migrant workers residing in dormitories.
In full data released late yesterday, Singapore classified 1,806 as community cases, 581 as imported cases and 38,829 as foreign workers in dorms.
As at noon yesterday, 31,938 or about 78 per cent of the total number of patients have fully recovered and been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.
There were 257 confirmed cases still in hospital yesterday, with two in critical condition in the intensive care unit, said the ministry.
It noted that 8,995 who have mild symptoms or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19 have been isolated and cared for at community facilities.
Thus far, 26 have died from complications due to COVID-19. There were no new clusters identified yesterday.
