Indonesia reports new COVID-19 infections above 10,000 for second day

JAKARTA: Indonesia has recorded new COVID-19 infections above 10,000 cases for the second consecutive day, bringing the overall total in the republic to 818,386 cases.
According to the data published in the official Indonesian government COVID-19 site today, the total new positive COVID-19 cases reported in the past 24 hours was 10,046 cases after recording its highest ever daily at 10,617 cases.
From noon yesterday to noon today, there were 194 more deaths bringing the overall total fatalities due to the virus to 23,947 people.
Jakarta province has the highest positive infections with 203,411 cases, an additional 2,753 new cases in 24 hours.
The province of East Java saw the highest number of COVID-19 deaths at 6,380 people with 66 more deaths reported during the period.
