JUST like car manufacturers, motorcycle makers are also facing the challenge of energy transition they too must adapt and find alternatives to fossil fuels. This is the case of Kawasaki, which has announced a wide range of electric bikes from 2025, with a complete switchover scheduled for 10 years later.

Kawasaki is taking the lead by announcing a long-term plan with several stages. The first step is to offer a dozen electric or hybrid models in its catalog by 2025. However, the Japanese manufacturer has some way to go to achieve this since, for the moment, its experience in the field is limited to a prototype presented two years ago.

To achieve this, a brand-new entity has been created, called Kawasaki Motors. It will focus on the manufacture of motorcycles, of course, but also four-wheeled off-road vehicles, water scooters and various motors. The idea is to be able to react more quickly to market trends and to offer new products that are both safer and more sustainable.

Kawasaki is already working on hybrid powertrains and has also presented an electric motorcycle prototype. The manufacturer has even said it is working on a hydrogen-powered Ninja H2, which means that it is really exploring all possibilities for powering its future models.

The goal is to introduce 10 electric or hybrid motorcycles by 2025. At the same time, five new innovative fuel quads are also expected.

Eventually, by 2035, Kawasaki hopes to be fully electric, and to have completed its transition to cleaner, renewable energy sources.
