Malaysian killed in tugboat incident in China identified

The Malaysian man who was reported missing in the tugboat sinking incident at Fubei Channel, Yangtze River nearby Jiangjiang, Jiangsu province in China has been identified as Cheong Kin Chin.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its deepest condolence and sympathy to the family of Cheong, who is from Negeri Sembilan, in a statement on Saturday.
"The Ministry will also facilitate the family’s travel arrangements to China. The Consulate General of Malaysia in Shanghai is working closely with the Chinese authorities in making the necessary arrangements for the remains of Mr Cheong to be transferred to Malaysia," said the statement.
The ministry said the Chinese authorities on Saturday (Jan 17), confirmed that a Malaysian national was killed in the tugboat incident which happened on Thursday (Jan 15) at Fubei Channel.
"Of the 25 victims, only three survived, while the rest have been confirmed dead, including four Singaporeans, one Malaysian, one Indian, one Indonesian and one Japanese," it said.
