Police yesterday arrested a man allegedly responsible for the screening of pornographic movie on a giant electronic billboard in South Jakarta last Friday.
Metro Jaya police chief Mochamad Iriawan said the man, an expert in Information Technology (IT), was picked up at Senopati.
He said based on forensic investigations on the computer units belonging to the company operating the electronic billboard, PT Transito Adiman Jati, the system was hacked from outside the office.
Mochamad said the 24-year-old man admitted committing the offence, saying it was an accident.
"But the police believe he has other motives because the pornographic movie was shown for more than 10 minutes, if not intentionally (maybe) only a few seconds," he said.
Mochamad said the man could be charged under the Pornography Law and Electronic Transaction Law, which carry a prison sentence of seven years.
A commotion broke and traffic came to almost a standstill when a pornographic film appeared on a large electronic advertisement board at Kebayoran Lama in South Jakarta.
The screening went on for more than 10 minutes until a trader, who operates a food stall by the road side there, went to cut off the electric cable at the billboard. -Bernama
