Five police officers including Tangerang Section police chief, Effendi were injured when they were assaulted by a man at Tangerang police station near here, yesterday.
Television news broadcasts quoted Metro Jaya District Police public relations chief, Awi Setiyono as saying in the incident at about 8 am, the police confronted a man who was pasting Daish stickers on a busy street in Yupentek, Cikokol in Tangerang and told him to stop.
He said the man known as Sultan Azianzah, 22, then went amok at the police station and attacked Effendi and four other policemen with a sharp weapon.
Awi said the police were still investigating the matter and believed the man was a Daish sympathiser and acted alone.
In January, nine people comprising four militants, two policemen and three civilians were killed in a bomb attack at a police post in Jalan MH Thamrin.
Daesh then claimed responsibility for the attacks and Indonesian police are still looking for one Bahrun Naim to assist with investigations. -- BERNAMA
