While the 'yellow metal' is becoming too hot for commoners to buy due to its soaring price, a businessman in western Indian state Maharashtra has bought a 'gold shirt' made of three kilogrammes of gold, Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.
Datta Phuge, a money-lender by profession and the husband of local Nationalist Congress Party leader, is the talk of the town after he presented himself in the glittering shirt made out of gold.
Hailing from Pimpri-Chinchwad industrial township near here, Phuge recently asked a local jeweller to 'weave' a 'gold shirt' weighing 3.5 kgs.
According to the jeweller who crafted the piece, as many as 15 goldsmiths from Bengal worked for 16 hours a day over a period of two weeks to make the shirt ordered by Phuge.
