A Christmas shopping marathon turned ugly when a Chinese man leapt seven stories to his death in China after a furious row with his girlfriend who insisted they go into another shop.
After five hours of shopping at the Golden Eagle International Shopping Center in Xuzhou, China, Tai Hsiao, 38, finally had enough and demanded to go home.
A furious row ensued and eyewitnesses say he could be heard saying they already had more bags than they could carry, CCTV reported.
However she insisted on going into one more shop where there was a special offer on shoes.
“He told her she already had enough shoes, more shoes than she could wear in a lifetime, and it was pointless in buying any more,” an eyewitness told CCTV. “She started shouting at him accusing him of spoiling Christmas, it was a really heated argument.”
Tao then threw their shopping bags on the flood and jumped over the railing on the seventh floor, smashing into Christmas decorations on his way down.
Tai was killed instantly upon impact. No one else was injured.
