The medical report has confirmed a Malaysian woman was raped, and the accused arrested, Indian media reported.
According to the reports, the Malaysian, aged 30, came to India on May 31.
She visited Bangalore, Jodhpur and Jaipur, Rajasthan where the incident took place.
The victim works for a management consultancy firm in Malaysia and was looking for some projects here.
She met the accused in her business visit.
“They have been dealing for this project and they went out for a couple of evenings together and on Thursday she came with a report that this man, after having dinner with her went on a drive, drugged her with some cold drink and thereafter she was raped,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Amandeep
Singh was quoted as saying by the reports.
The woman managed to reach a police car near the Jawahar Circle area in the city and lodged a complaint. The man was arrested within three hours.
According to the woman’s statement, which she gave to the police a day after the incident, she was in an unconscious state and was even threatened by the accused with a gun.
"A pistol was also recovered from the accused's car,” the media quoted Amandeep as saying.
The DCP also said that she has been given full police protection and that her medical treatment was also undertaken within four hours.
“She has been provided with counselors according to her need and as soon as the investigation ends she will be safely sent back to her country,” he added.
Meanwhile, The Malaysian High Commission in New Delhi is also in touch with the victim.
“She is safe and the authorities in Jaipur are giving us full cooperation with regards to the incident,” an official told Bernama when contacted.
Official statistics say about 25,000 rapes are committed every year in India, a nation of 1.3 billion people.
Earlier this year, a 51-year old Danish woman was allegedly gang-raped in Delhi. She was robbed and raped at knife point.
During the same timeframe, an 18-year-old German was also reportedly raped by a man sharing her compartment on a train travelling from Mangalore to Chennai in southern India.
A rape takes place every 22 minutes in India, but underreporting of attacks means that the frequency is likely much higher.
