India's Home Ministry says the lone surviving gunman from the 2008 terror attack on Mumbai has been hanged.
Pakistani citizen Ajmal Kasab was one of 10 gunmen who rampaged through the streets of India's financial capital in November 2008, killing 166 people.
India's Home Minister R.R. Patil says Kasab was executed at 7:30 am Wednesday at a jail in Pune, a city near Mumbai.
Kasab was one of 10 gunmen who caused terror to the city, targetting hospitals and luxury hotels, which resulted in the death of 166 people.
He was sentenced to death in May 2010 after being found guilty of a string of charges including murder and terrorist acts.
Kasab's appeal to the Supreme Court claiming he did not receive a fair trial was struck down in August.
