In the midst of desperate shouts and screams and many running to safety during the recent earthquake in Nepal, Prakash Bashyal did not seem to be perturbed by the situation nor did he even think of escaping from the situation.
It was reported that the 33-year-old had not even tried to leave the hospital in Kathmandu where his wife was recovering after giving birth to their child.
The only thought that ran in his mind was to protect his wife Amrita Basyal, 31, who delivered their child via Caesarean section from the debris of the earthquake.
Prakash hugged her body tightly in order protect his wife, who was physically very weak from the falling debris.
“I was waiting inside the building for an hour,” he said during an interview with Astro AWANI.
He also prayed for the safety of his other family members including his one-day-old baby who was admitted in another hospital.
The premature baby named Joy was admitted in the Patan Hospital, a different hospital from his mother as he needed an incubator to support his breathing.
"Just the two of us were in the surgical ward when the earthquake took place. My wife was anxious about our baby,” he said.
As soon as the situation calmed down, Prakash then carried his wife out of the hospital.
After the situation settled down, Prakash, then carried his wife out of the hospital and headed towards Patan Hospital where his son was warded.
"And shortly after, I left and went to see my son’s condition. Thank God he was all good."
Prakash is now safe with his wife and his son.
