Peru’s government approved a new Strategy for the Modernisation of the Public Administration in order to
build a democratic and decentralised State focused on citizens.
This strategy includes short and medium term actions so that citizens' demands determine and guide improvements in the performance of public functions, according to a supreme decree published in El Peruano official newspaper.
The regulation specifies the role of Peru's Secretariat of Public Management at the Prime Minister’s Office as a lead institution in the modernisation of public administration.
This secretariat will be responsible for the coordination, monitoring and evaluation of the adopted strategy.
The regulation, posted on the website of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, was signed by Peru's President Ollanta Humala and the Head of the Cabinet, Juan Jimenez Mayor.
