Photo of Indonesian minister dozing off in US airport goes viral

A PHOTOGRAPH of an Indonesian minister sleeping on a couch at an airport in the US goes viral on social media.

According to The Jakarta Post, the photo of Maritime and Fisheries Minister, Susi Pudjiastuti, dozing off was taken in the VIP lounge of the John F. Kennedy (JFK) Airport in New York.

Susi was in the US to attend the first-ever United Nations (UN) Ocean conference on Sunday.

Susi’s photo was shared by a Facebook user, Jim B Aditya, yesterday.

“She received praise from Leonardo DiCaprio as a brave woman in her efforts to combat illegal fishing.

“She deserves to be called the Maritime Mother of Indonesia. She passed out due to exhaustion in the JFK airport VIP lounge,” Jim wrote.

Record showed that the photograph was shared more than 3,000 times and has over 700 comments.

Many were praising Susi and thinks of her as an extraordinary woman.

“One of my favourite ministers,” Andika Hananto Gunawan commented.

Another social media user, Eri Ruslianti wrote: “Extraordinary! Hope that Ms Susi is always healthy.”

Another netizen, Vincent Woge, said Susi is a bold and assertive woman.
