Prisoner's helicopter escape attempt foiled

A prisoner fron the Trikala prison attempted to escape using a helicopter but he did not get to execute his daring plan when he was shot by a prison officer.
This was Panagiotis Vlastos fourth attempt in trying to escape from jail.
The 43-year-old had also tried to escape in 1994, 1988 and 2011.
His latest attempt was assisted by three men, two of whom were armed with AK-47 assault rifles.
The trio, who were already in the helicopter let down a rope for Vlastos, but he failed to hang on to his life when he was shot, causing him to go through a scary, 10 feet fall.
Following the shooting, the helicopter had to land the helicopter in the prison’s car park area.
Vlastos is facing life imprisonment after being convicted of murder.
