"You bravely dealt with a serious and negative situation and used it to prove your leadership and transparency," said a Singaporean on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's move in answering all allegations against him and his government in Parliament .
Susan Tan was commenting on Lee's posting on Facebook about him making his closing statement on 38, Oxley Road in Parliament, Tuesday.
"Prime Minister sir, I salute you as our leader and true son of Lee Kuan Yew (LKY) and Singapore," she added.
The Singapore Parliament sitting made its own history for the past two days as the House heard fully the accusations against the prime minister and his government.
It was aimed at enabling Lee and his Cabinet to give account to Parliament and clear the air.
This was prompted by allegations of abuse of power made against Lee by his younger siblings on June 14 over their late father's wishes for the family home at Oxley Road.
All members of Parliament had the opportunity to raise questions for themselves and their constituents.
Meanwhile, Nikki Yolmo said that "with a prime minister like Mr Lee, a country couldn't ask for more."
For her, it was because Lee was willing to come to Parliament and talk openly about matters that matter the most to his citizens, clear the air, the tension, the accusations, resolve matters by discussions, make changes where necessary, most important, acknowledging the need to work towards important matters and not letting it escalate into a soap opera.
"What an exceptional leader!! Transparent, honest and sincere. You can see it in his speech, his body language, his everything. World leaders could learn a lot from him," said Yolmo.
Another Singaporean, Zafar Afzal, wrote, "the nation fully understands the issue now and is standing behind you.
"Mr Prime Minister, nations which look forward and move ahead are the ones where their leaders are bold enough to take matters head on. We salute you for the courage and self-discipline shown in this matter."
As he announced on June 19, Lee had on Monday made a ministerial statement on "Alleged Abuse of Power on 38, Oxley Road" in Parliament and it was open for debate by the members of Parliament.
In his closing statement, Lee answered all the questions posted to him.
The questions, among others, were the propriety of appointing Lucien Wong as Attorney-General because Wong was previously his lawyer; whether he had deceived his father; and whether he considered or was considering legal options against his siblings.
