A father was charged for causing the death of his 22-months old son while busy sending sexually explicit messages (sexting) to six different women, including a 16-year-old girl.
Justin Ross Harris, 33, pleaded not guilty to all charges of child cruelty and felony murder. He was denied bail by a Georgia court and is still waiting for a decision from a grand jury on the murder indictment.
Harris's son Cooper died in the backseat of a hot car in Marietta, Georgia on June 18. Harris claimed to have forgotten to drop his son off at a day-care centre and instead left him in a hot car for more than seven hours.
During the hearing, a prosecutor revealed disturbing details where most of the evidence came from Harris's computers, smart phone and tablet.
Most troubling details surrounded what Harris was allegedly doing during his work day while his son was dying inside the hot car.
According to the prosecutor, Harris was sexting with at least six different women and had also sent photos of his private part to a teenager.
Months before Cooper's death, Harris was also actively reading articles for individuals that do not have children and do not ever want to have any, the court was told.
Harris also allegedly browsed on videos which showed people dying. He also performed web searches for phrases such as "Georgia age of consent" and "how to survive prison."
According to the prosecutor, Harris had also watched a video discussing what it's like for an animal to die in a hot car twice. He had watched the video for the second time just five days before his son's death.
Harris's wife was also questioned in conjunction with this case, but no charges have been brought against her.
