Residents in flood-hit southern Thailand are bracing for a devastating aftermath as the waters start to recede, especially in Pattalung Province, where thousands have been displaced, Thai News Agency (TNA)
reported.
Although heavy rains that have been pouring for days have stopped, the deluge of water from Bantad Slope has damaged over 4,000 acres of farmland, including business districts, in Pattalung, which is the last known water catchment area before water flows into Songkla Lake.
Traffic in Baan Plai Thong and Baan Khao Jing Jo have been rendered impossible due to localised flooding, while fish trawlers have stopped all their daily activities for a week now due to strong waves. However, large ferries and cargo ships remain at sea despite the bad weather.
