SINGAPORE: A Singapore media outlet obtained video footage showing a young woman ran unhesitatingly into a burning car in a Tanjong Pagar Road fatal incident to save five persons trapped in the car, including her fiance.
The footage has been exclusively obtained by The Straits Times.
The white BMW M4 coupe which was involved in the fatal incident was seen skidding for two seconds at around 5.40 am on Feb 13, according to the online version of the daily newspaper.
It then spun out of control before slamming into a shophouse further away. The car’s signal lights can be seen blinking for about 15 seconds before the vehicle exploded in a ball of fire.
About 20 seconds later, the young woman, Raybe Oh, appeared in the video. She was seen running towards the burning car and right into the flames.
She emerged 10 seconds later, covered in flames, and was seen running towards some shophouses opposite the narrow two-lane road, the daily observed.
According to the news outlet, Oh, 26, a former air stewardess, is still in critical condition at the Singapore General Hospital; she is reported to have suffered burns to 80 per cent of her body.
The car was driven by her fiance, Jonathan Long, 29, with his four friends, namely Eugene Yap, 29; Elvin Tan, 28; Teo Qi Xiang, 26; and Gary Wong, 29.
The Straits Times said it saw six video clips with time stamps between 5.24am and 5.50am.
The BMW was seen making three rounds on the same stretch of road before losing control and crashing during the fourth round. The car was driven more slowly in the earlier rounds, it said.
