The coalition government is prepared to work and cooperate with opposition parties in 2013 although their roles are different, said Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Sunday.

Yingluck, Thailand’s first female prime minister since the country changed from absolute monarchy to constitutional monarchy system in 1932, praised the opposition for monitoring the government’s performance and lawmakers of the parliament during 2012, saying that although each has different role but they all share one objective and that is how to make the country progress.

Thai News Agency (TNA) reported that the premier urged for the end of social divisiveness and violence in the country which has been prevailing following a bloodless coup which ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, her elder brother, in September 2006.

Pledging that she would prove her government leadership to the people and this might take time as she has been a new face in the political arena, Yingluck said she is willing to listen to criticisms and improve the government’s work.

Yingluck said she is prepared to work for the country and the people and noted that only time will prove her work while the people are the one who make the final decision.
