WASHINGTON: Former President Donald Trump leads in the contest for the Republican party's presidential nomination, garnering 52 per cent support from potential Republican primary voters while competitor Nikki Haley has gained 32 per cent, a new Washington Post/Monmouth University poll revealed.
The results of the poll showed that seven in ten voters believe Trump would definitely or probably beat current President Joe Biden in the presidential election in November, reported Sputnik.
The results of the poll also showed that confidence in Nikki Haley's prospects would decrease if she were to become the Republican party nominee and 21 per cent of voters believe she would definitely beat Biden, while 42 per cent say she probably would.
Last month, Trump won the Republican party primary in the US state of New Hampshire, following his record-setting win in the Iowa caucus.
