A video of a man claiming to be Kim Han Sol, the son of the murdered North Korean national Kim Jong Nam has emerged on YouTube.
The 40-second video, entitled 'KHS Video' was uploaded by a group called Cheollima Civil Defense yesterday.
According to Singapore-based broadcaster Channel NewsAsia, the group had contacted them after posting the video online.
"My name is Kim Han Sol, from North Korea, part of the Kim family. My father has been killed a few days ago.
"I'm currently with my mother and my sister. We are very grateful to ...," he said, before the audio went mute.
The man then ended his monologue by saying, "We hope this gets better soon."
The video was also uploaded on the group's website, claiming it had responded to an emergency request by survivors of Jong Nam's family for extraction and protection.
"The three family members were met quickly and relocated to safety. We have in the past addressed other urgent needs for protection.
"This will be the first and last statement on this particular matter, and the present whereabouts of this family will not be addressed," said the group.
Meanwhile, Channel NewAsia said they have also contacted Malaysian Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar to comment on this matter.
However, Khalid said he has not heard of the group and would not comment whether or not the police were already in touch with Jong Nam's family.
He added that the police have their "own means of contacting the family".
On Feb 13, Jong Nam was at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) to take a flight to Macau when he was approached by two women who wiped a poisonous chemical on his face.
Jong Nam, the estranged elder brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, died while being taken to Putrajaya Hospital.
