A man in China, has ensured that couples who want to watch a movie this Valentine’s Friday won’t be able to do so the way they expect, by buying up every other seat at a cinema in Shanghai.
The anti-Valentines day deviant managed to afford the ticket by setting up a campaign on a crowd funding site.
According to the Daily Mail, thanks to the unnamed man’s campaign, the showing of the film 'Beijing Love Story' at a movie theatre in Xintiandi shopping centre now only offers odd seats.
The mysterious man, who only wanted to identify himself as UP, said that after breaking up with his girlfriend last year, he does not want to be stuck next to couples in the cinema on a Friday.
UP explained to the Shanghai Morning Post that it was difficult to pull off this stunt as the bookings system did not allow him to book odd seats and the staff at the cinema were not any help either.
‘A friend recommended that I start a campaign on a crowd funding site, and there were enough single internet friends out there to help me raise the money to do this sort of thing.'+3
'I hope all lovers understand this is just a small joke,' he added.
'Want to see a movie on Valentine’s Day? Sorry, you’ll have to sit separately.
'Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Give us singles a chance,’ the self proclaimed computer nerd’s message read.
