BEIRUT: Israeli army warplanes on Tuesday launched a series of airstrikes across southern Lebanon, leaving destruction in their wake and culminating in the tragic killing of an entire family in Jarjouaa, the official news agency of the Lebanese government, the National News Agency (NNA), reported.
At around 10 am, Israeli fighter jets bombed the town of Hanin in the Bint Jbeil district.
Earlier, at approximately 8.15 am, an enemy drone struck a motorcycle with a guided missile near a parking lot in Kafr Sir, although no casualties were reported.
The southern town of Taybeh in Marjeyoun also came under attack from Israeli warplanes, followed by an airstrike on Khiyam and artillery shelling in the Marjeyoun plains.
The most devastating strike occurred in the town of Jarjouaa, in the Iqlim al-Tuffah region, where Israeli warplanes targeted a residential home in the Sharayek neighbourhood, according to NNA.
The airstrike claimed the lives of Mohammad Hassan Mshawrab, an OGERO telecommunications employee, his wife Ghida Farhat, and their two children. Mohammad had remained in his hometown to continue his work repairing damage to the phone network caused by the ongoing bombardment.
Israeli jets also targeted the towns of Kafr Rumman, along with a home in Qsaybah, completely destroying the structure. Overnight, the Qasmiyeh area near Tyre was hit by airstrikes, causing extensive damage to property and farmland.
In the Marjeyoun region, Israeli warplanes launched a series of raids along the Litani River, between the villages of Blat and Borgoz, further intensifying the onslaught on southern Lebanon.
